July News Release for 2010
5 July 2010
岱凱贏得來自印尼服務供應商ICON+的大型網路重組專案 Singapore, 5 July 2010 - Datacraft has been contracted by Indonesia's leading service provider, ICON+, to conduct an extensive restructuring of its backbone network to connect 14 sites across the islands. The new high-capacity backbone will increase the scope of ICON+'s offering to include high-speed intercity voice and data transit, broadband internet and video demand. ICON+ is a subsidiary of Indonesia's largest electricity company, PT PLN (Persero), offering network services based on protocol independent data transmission for companies such as Clear Channel. Its internet protocol virtual private network (IP VPN) extends over 27,300 km across the islands of Java, Baliand Sumatera using PLN's right of ways. Due to the increasing demand on the network, there was a serious concern on the ability of the P/PE topology to cope. The service provider knew it had to upgrade the network to improve its availability, stability and security. Our network needs to function around the clock, said Ritme Aulia Jaffar, Planning and Operation Director for ICON+. We simply cannot afford to have any downtime due to the very nature of our business, and the hugely competitive telecommunications environment in Indonesia. We needed a partner who is highly competent in the telecommunications field, to address the situation quickly, without affecting our daily operations. Hence, we turned to Datacraft. The Datacraft team began the consulting work by assessing the company's current IT infrastructure. Based on the findings and analysis, the team submitted a proposed roadmap to restructure the network; the design requirements and staging equipment needed were also defined. The client subsequently accepted the recommendations and appointed Datacraft to manage and implement this project. This entailed the ordering and delivery of all equipment, as well as its installation and configuration. Thereafter, Datacraft conducted operation-ready performance tests and handled the necessary documentation. Within the proposal, Datacraft recommended installation of a Cisco CRS-1 Series backbone router and segregation of the P/PE routers under the IP core network for increased capacity, scalability and more efficient use of bandwidth. Given the scale of this project, it is important that the integration team can manage all aspects of delivering the project and transitioning to the new backbone smoothly, said Patrap Yakin, General Manager for Datacraft Indonesia. Fortunately, Datacraft has a long history of working with telecommnications providers and our expertise in delivering complex integrations in this domain is unparalleled. In addition, our Uptime support service was very attractive to ICON+ as continuity is critical to its operations.
